Arts integration research has focused on documenting how specific art forms can be integrated with "core" academic subject matters. Art-centred integrated curriculum is a version of art integration that uses art processes to promote deep and holistic understanding of concepts and ideas that matter to students while fostering their abilities to think flexibly and capacities they may need in order to prosper. The purpose of this paper is to examine, through the design of a new curriculum, how the integration of various forms of arts into a core curriculum can strengthen the educational foundation of school students. There is a growing demand for the integration of all core, and non-core curricula.
An integrated curriculum is established that fosters and engages students in creative thinking, collaborative teamwork, develop aesthetic values and sharpen critical intellectual skills. |
