This paper is devoted to the study of the issues of symbol synchronization in communication systems that transmit the data at a rate faster than the Nyquist rate using principles of the theory of resolution time. The study is carried out for a narrowband communication channel, whose frequency response is described by the frequency response of the resonant filter. The considered signal in this paper is differential binary phase shift keying signal. New properties are revealed. It was shown that frequency offset of the peak power spectral density of the first harmonic of the symbol frequency slightly exceed 1 percent of its nominal value but the instability of the symbol rate increases as the resulting bandwidth decreases. So, if the probability of occurrence of zeros and ones in the information sequence is equally probable, then the instability of the symbol frequency is 2.17%, for Q = 10; 7.53% for Q = 20.
