Abstract: Resonant properties of semi-infinite place and rectangularwaveguides in the presence of a thin conductive diaphragm placednear the cross-wall are investigated. The diffraction problems ofelectromagnetic waves by diaphragms are reduced by the method ofintegral-series identities to the infinite sets of linearalgebraic equations. It is found that at some values of thefrequency of the excitatory wave there is a sharp resonantincrease of the amplitude of standing waves in the area betweenthe diaphragm and the flange.
