Abstract:

Directions of the most intensive emission, values of the directivity as well as lasing-mode frequency spectra and thresholds of eccentric microring optical cavities are calculated numerically. The calculations are based on the lasing eigenvalue problem reduced to a set of the boundary integral equations and a Galerkin method with trigonometric basis. Numerical experiments show that suitable geometric characteristics of the eccentric microring cavities can lead to a notable growth of the directivity of the emission of the lasing modes with the preservation of their low thresholds.
