This article is devoted to the description and analysis of the modern digital tools’ didactic potential: these tools are supposed to be used by teachers of Russian as a foreign language in the classroom and in the students’ homework.The authors discuss various approaches to the use of digital applications in teaching Russian as a foreign language, describe how to work with modern computer language learning tools which are to contribute to the formation of students' communicative competence and to adapt students to the new educational environment. Having studied and analyzed lots of scientific sources (articles, reports at conferences), webinars of the State Institute of the Russian Language named after A. S. Pushkin, having tested some of these tools on Russian as a foreign language classes, the authors of this study describe their own experience in using some digital resources in order to analyze and criticize the productivity of their use.In the course of the study, the authors conclude that modern digital tools have significant methodological potential: they increase students' motivation and cognitive activity, stimulate the development of skills for self language study, and prepare students for professional activities in the modern society.
