© Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd. There are a number of works in which pulsating combustion of the wood particles in Helmholtz resonator type device was studied. The dependences of the frequency and amplitude of oscillations on the geometry of the device were determined. The aim of this work is to study the thermodynamic properties of pulsating combustion. P-V diagrams of pulsating combustion and the amplitude of oscillations of the heat release rate are determined. It is proved that the acoustic power generated in the combustion zone is the result of work performed on the gas during one oscillation cycle.
