© 2019 IOP Publishing Ltd. In the paper an investigation of the hydrodynamic influence on oscillating thin plates in a viscous fluid is presented. The evolution of drag and inertial forces acting on plates in different flow regimes for different vibration amplitudes is considered. It is shown that in regimes with intense vortex formation the shape of the edges of the plates has a strong influence on the resistance. The drag force acting on plates with different shapes of the edges may differ by more than 14% at the same oscillation parameter values.
