Determination of the velocities anisotropy and direction of fast and slow shear waves propagation in the reservoirs containing hydrocarbon deposits is important for the choice of a field development model. The paper describes computing technique the magnitude of the shear waves anisotropy and the assessment of the preferred propagation directions for fast and slow shear waves in the Akan oil field, Republic of Tatarstan, the Russian Federation. In the course of the work, the cross-dipole acoustic logging data were processed for a number of wells. Two different types of logging tools were used while logging. As a result, a monopole and dipole waveforms were recorded. The special techniques were used for the processing of logging data. The primary azimuth of the fast shear wave propagation is east-southeast. The studied reservoirs characterized mainly low values of acoustic anisotropy. However, there are areas with increased values of anisotropy coefficients. The results obtained are in good agreement with the geological structure of the oilfield, as well as with the data obtained from the processing of formation imagers, the processing of seismic data and the tracer studies.
