To evaluate the medicinal properties of an agent containing ethinylestradiol (EE) and chlormadinone acetate (CMA) in contraceptive-needing patients within the framework of the pharmacological epidemiological observational project. Subjects and methods. The investigation enrolled 161 contraception-needing patients. All the patients had no contraindications to combined oral contraceptives (COCs) and conditions in which COCs should be used with caution. All the women took EE in combination with CMA in a 21/7 cyclic regimen for contraception. To evaluate the medicinal properties of the agent, the investigators studied its effects on the nature of menstruation and related symptoms (tenderness, frequency of breast pain prior to menstruation, abundant discharge), and the skin (acne frequency and severity, skin oiliness). Results. During the investigation, there were pronounced changes associated with a decrease in complaints related to painful menstruation, their abundance, premenstrual breast pain; acne severity and higher skin fat content reduced. Conclusion. The findings may consider COC with EE/CMA as an agent having an anti-androgenic effect that can reduce the frequency and degree of manifestation of acne, have a positive effect on the nature of menstruation.
