Abstract:
Currently the study of concepts is widespread and became one of the most popular areas of cognitive linguistics. The concepts and conceptual spheres are investigated from various aspects of operation. Song discourse is a weakly explored field which is not considered seriously by many scientists-linguists. As in poetry, writers use in their texts a significant amount of stylistic devices, tropes and syntactical structures. Linguists showed a particular interest to the study of world perception elements among the carriersof different languages, and music is one of them. Accordingly, this issue is a relevant one. This article discusses the concepts of "hate" in the lyrics of domestic and foreign rock bands. It is assumed that rock music is the counterculture music, which is opposed to the society. Consequently, the lyrics of songs contain an expression of distaste, aversion, and a direct hatred against the existing political, social, cultural structure of society, with respect for others. Moreover, the "hate" may be referred in texts as a philosophical category, an abstract concept.
