Lexicographic representation of architectural terms in the English-Russian dictionary

Abstract

The authors pursued the goals of studying the complex macrostructure of the English-Russian dictionary of architecture terms as a special layer of vocabulary featuring specific structural, semantic and functional characteristics. In the paper we dwelled on major trends of modern terminography as well as existing lexicographical sources that document the architectural terminology. Following the scope of our interests in this branch of linguistic studies we focus on the structure of the lexical entry of the bilingual dictionary that is to consist of nine sections. The methodology of the professional dictionary development is the result of a multidimensional approach to the study of architectural terms in the Russian and English languages.
