The specific nature of biographical method, its advantages and disadvantages are exposed. Multifunction opportunities of biographical method in historical and philosophical studies are described. It’s shown that application of this method in historical and philosophical studies allows defining the influence of life circumstances on philosopher’s views features: forming their generalized portrait.
