This paper deals with the Academic collection copy of the Paraenesis of Ephraem Syrus (1377). At the end of the manuscript the scribe has added a note of giving information about the date, the place where the manuscript was created and other important historic details. The manuscript shows direct evidence of having been used in the divine services. It differs from all the other manuscripts in its composition, but it belongs to the same text version as the other Old Russian copies of the Paraenesis (except the copy from the Pogodin collection). At the end of the manuscript there is a complete text on the Life of Ephraem Syrus. It has a whole range of phonetic, grammatical and lexical peculiarities which when analyzing its various different readings reveal themselves. A comparative study of the manuscripts within the Corpus of texts is, thus, the most expedient and productive one. © 2011 Springer Science+Business Media B.V.
