Abstract:
The reactions of bromine and chlorine with bis(1-phenyl-5-tetrazolyl) disulfide and of bromine with 1-phenyltetrazole-5-thiol are reversible. Chlorine reacts with 1-phenyltetrazole-5-thiol to yield 1-phenyltetrazole-5-sulfenyl chloride; the reaction is irreversible, and the resulting sulfenyl chloride with the initial thiol forms the corresponding disulfide.
