Abstract:
1. The results reported point to an analogy between β-keto and β-alkoxycarbonyl derivatives of phosphonic and carboxylic esters. 2. Phosphonoacetic and 2-phosphonopropionic triesters do not contain appreciable amounts of the enol forms. 3. Titration with bromine indicates that acetonylphosphonic and 1-methylacetonylphosphonic esters contain small amounts of the enol forms. Considerable enolization occurs in an alkaline medium. 4. β-keto phosphonic esters prepared by the A. E. Arbuzov rearrangement differ in their properties from sodium diethyl phosphite. © 1958 Consultants Bureau Inc.
