© Serials Publications. This article focuses on the study of competence of modern students as an important condition for their professional training. Professional competence is an important element in the structure of a teacher’s personality, on the degree and expressiveness of which the opportunities for the professional growth and achievement of professional pinnacle depend. The study shows the urgency of the psychological vector dominance in the educational standards of the new generation. The work deals with the socio-professional competencies. The great importance is given to social, cognitive, operating and special competencies. The materials of the article expand the idea of changes in professional competence of students in the educative process. For empirical study, we used the methodology “Expert assessment of socio-professional competencies of students”. The object is to master the methodology for obtaining expert assessments of socio-professional competencies (Zeer & Pavlova 2008). The presented theoretical justification and the results of empirical study allow us to make a conclusion on changes in socio-professional competencies of students in the educative process that affect the success of the work in the chosen specialty.
