ABSTRACT
The topicality of the issue in question is conditioned by the fact that women's emancipation in Muslim
countries and in countries where Islam has had a strong impact during many years is an issue which is
significant in both scientific and practical terms within a context of yet existing stereotypic view on
women's role in Muslim society. The purpose of this article lies in studying thetransformation of Turkish
women's position in society, changes in her roles that were conditioned by social, regulatory, religious
and cultural transformations in the Republic of Turkey in the 20th century, caused by theactivity of
women's social organizations, newspapers, and magazines. The leading role in studying of this issue
