dc.description.abstract Burns patients present as one of the most challenging situations in both human and veterinary medicine. The goal of our research was to design new method therapy of burns from animals. This study used rabbit skin fibroblasts genetically modified by lentivirus encoding human fibroblast growth factor 2 (FGF2) cDNA in order to assess burn healing in a rabbit model, alongside fibroblast only and control rabbits with burns without application of any fibroblasts. The fibroblast-treated animals had earlier healing times and reduced risks of potential complications. In addition, the FGF2-modified fibroblasts stimulated better skin regeneration following burn injuries when compared to both control and fibroblast only–treated rabbits. This novel treatment could be used as a potential treatment in the clinical setting in order to treat skin lesions in animals.
