dc.description.abstract | Abstract: An approximate model of the process of loss in carrying capacity of the three-layered rod under tension is proposed. The criterion of failure is a loss in stability of the middle layer. The critical load is calculated according to the classical expression for it in a problem of the compression of the rod in an elastic medium. A technique has been developed to determine the coefficient of subgrade reaction for the middle layer based on a comparison of analytical and numerical solutions to the problem of bending a beam on an elastic foundation with known geometric and mechanical parameters (a two-dimensional finite-element model is used for the numerical solution). On the basis of the performed calculations, the regularities of the change in the coefficient of subgrade reaction are revealed depending on a variation of the geometric and mechanical parameters; these regularities are presented in a form of the regression function. Some dependences of the critical load on these parameters are obtained. | |
