This paper presents the works done in the years 2013 to 2017, regarding epidemiological analysis of the situation associated with hepatitis B and C among the population of the Republic of Mari El. The documentaries of the State Report of the Office of Rospotrebnadzor for the Republic of Mari El “On the state of sanitary and epidemiological well-being of the population of the Republic of Mari El” and the form of federal state statistical observation No. 1, 2 “Information on infectious and parasitic diseases” for the study period were used as materials. Based on the data there is a decrease in the incidence of acute hepatitis B by 3 times (2013-0.9 per 100 thousand of the population; 2017-0.3 per 100 thousand of the population). The level of average annual incidence of acute viral hepatitis B in the Republic of Mari El (0.42 per 100 thousand of the population) is 2.6 times lower than in the Russian Federation (1.11 per 100 thousand of the population). The incidence of acute hepatitis C increased by 1.7 times (2013-0.9 per 100 thousand of the population; 2017-1.6 per 100 thousand of the population). The level of average long-term incidence of acute viral hepatitis C in the Republic of Mari El (1.26 per 100 thousand of the population) is approximately the same as in the Russian Federation (1.37 per 100 thousand of the population). In 2013–2017, there were no cases of acute hepatitis B among children under 14 years of age, 2 cases of acute hepatitis C were recorded in this cohort in the Republic of Mari El. The epidemiological situation associated with viral hepatitis B and C is characterized as prosperous in the Republic of Mari El.
