dc.description.abstract © 2020 Author(s). This paper reports on simulations of laser-induced heating in gold nanotip. The simulation was carried out using Lumerical software. Highly enhanced optical field can induce thermal transport in nanotip under laser irradiation. This resulting localized heating effect is of great interest that promise novel applications in material surface processing. The optical field distribution around the tip was calculated solving Maxwell equations using the finite-difference method in the time domain. A gold nanoparticle was presented as a simplified model of a probe to verify the validity of simulation results.
