dc.description.abstract © 2019, Pleiades Publishing, Inc. The mechanism of the linear electric polarization in FeCr 2 O 4 ferrimagnet is suggested. The polarization is induced by the odd crystal field acting on 3d electrons of Fe 2+ , as well as by the spin–orbit interaction, exchange field, and orbital ordering. The calculated polarization is directed along the c axis of the crystal.
