Nanotechnology is one of the most perspective branches of science and technology of the 21st century. Emergence of new terms as a result of rapid development of nanotechnology demands a comprehensive study of the discipline from the linguistic point of view. International cooperation defines the significance of developing new standards. The study of the translation of nanotechnology terms from English into Russian may contribute to the process of standardization. One way of studying the peculiarities of translation is to analyze the structure of terms and methods of their translation. According to the analysis, single-component nanotechnology terms are typically translated using transliteration and transcription. Many-component nanotechnology terms are translated using loan translation which is common for the new terminology. The usage of transformations in translation of many-component terms is affected by the grammatical differences between English and Russian languages. | |
