It is well known that the main purpose for all upscaling techniques related with homogenization of initial any heterogeneous property and substituting it with an effective value. Thus, the essence of upscaling is computing weighted average on the fine-grid to form coarse-grid considering representative elementary volume. The goal of this research work was experimental investigations of pore space distribution of carbonate rocks. Samples were collected from the Upper Permian ages core data. Samples bulk porosity were obtained by routine core analysis (RCA) technics. Inner structure and pore space distribution on microscale level were obtained by X-Ray computer tomography technics. Surface porosity was obtained using photogrammetry for saturated with UV-visible inks cubic shape samples. Hereinafter, texture maps for each cube's side were classified to receive binary images shown "pore-none pore" distribution. Geostatistical interpolation methods such as indicator kriging (IK), sequential indicator simulation (SISIM) and single normal equation simulation (SNESIM) were used for reconstruction of porous media in cubic samples from surface categorical images. The experimental results demonstrate that the structures of porous media computed using SNESIM are most similar to those of X-Ray tomography data and comparable with bulk porosity value. Outcomes may assist to optimize the development of carbonate reservoirs. | |
