dc.description.abstract © Medwell Journals, 2016.Today among academic historians a considerable interest is revived in the study of the phenomenon of empires. The British Empire was the greatest of all the existed ones in the history of mankind as well as the largest colonial empire with colonies on all continents. Modern home and foreign researchers put the subject of the history of British India forward as one of the most original. Over the past few decades, the studies on the topic that we are interested in have appeared which require generalization and systematization. The researchers of the article review how researchers characterize the causes, conditions and circumstances of the disintegration of the British Empire as well as the course, outcomes and consequences of the partition of British India. This article deals with understanding the role and place of India in the collapse of the British Empire, analysis and evaluation of raising and studying the proposed topic in the works of modern historians.
