dc.description.abstract This article is dedicated to the works of Afzal Tagirov whose name was in the list of "forgotten" ones because of the socio-political reasons, and his novel "The Red Guards" in particular. The attention is drawn to the fact that the writer's work requires a detailed study. The subject of this article is the chronotope of the novel "The Red Guards". A considetrable part of the artice is devoted to the definition of the artistic features of the writer's language and style. The article points out that this work is a fine example of the literary art in which the author uses the multiple forms of space and time description: The synthesis of historical, literary, subjective and other chronotopes. It is revealed that the novel aptly describes the social events, the characters' lives through the folklore examples - The active role of the Tatar people in the historical process, the preservation of their customs, traditions, spiritual wealth and strong spirit and during difficult periods. The article also shows that Afzal Tahirov depicts all the complexity of time and space when Tatar people joined the revolutionary liberation movement in Russia. The writer brings respect and interest in the historical past of his people, his culture. The article helps bring clarity to Afzal Tagirov's creativity. According to the analysis of the novel, the study of chronotope, the artistic and expressive features of the novel its important role in the literature is emphasized.
