Positioning of volga federal district regions by demographic situation index

Abstract

This article addresses the demographic situation in VFD regions which is viewed as important component of region's positioning. Author's method of calculation of demographic situation index is proposed, which was used for assessment of demographic situation in VFD regions. Performed analysis allowed to identify the set of indicators which correspond to the purpose of this study most fully. Such indicators are as follows: dependency ratio, crude birth rate, crude death rate coefficient, infant mortality rate and life expectancy at birth coefficient. The groups of factors are identified which influence demographic situation in the region. © IDOSI Publications, 2014.
