dc.description.abstract The influence of medium on methanol stretching OH-vibration shifts was studied in several proton acceptor solvents. A new solvent parameter that well described the influence of the medium on frequency shifts was suggested. The influence of the medium on S=O, P=O, C=O, and N=O stretching vibration shifts was analyzed. A method for estimating stretching vibration frequencies in the gas phase from data on solutions was suggested. Copyright © 2005 by Pleiades Publishing, Inc.
