dc.description.abstract A review of the papers published for the last five years in the field of investigation of electrothermal atomizers with lateral heating and its application in analytical atomic spectrometry. Design peculiarities of such atomizers (horizontal and vertical electric power supply, lateral anisothermism) providing its advantages over the models with longitudinal heating are considered. Tendencies of atomizer improvement for the purpose of matrix noise reduction (vapor filtering, multistage heating, fractional atomization, new modifiers) have been analyzed.
