dc.description.abstract A study was made of glaciation in Afghanistan. The work, carried out at Kabul University between 1984 and 1986, was based on the study of aerial photographs and topographical maps of various scales. The number, types and dimensions of glaciers are described. There are four main types: hanging glaciers, cirque glaciers, valley glaciers and ice caps in four main regions: Badakhshan, Northern Nuristan, Vakhan and Bamian. -translated by P.Cooke
