On the basis of the dipole moments, Meldrum acid, its monomethyl derivatives, and 2-phenyl-1,3-dioxa-4,6-cyclohexadione in benzene solution have the bathtub conformation, while 2,2,5,5-tetramethyl-1,3-dioxa-4,6-cyclohexadione has the armchair conformation. © 1974 Consultants Bureau. |
