dc.description.abstract | 1. In the course of the action of lead tetraacetate on 3-carene the acetate of the same (+)-alcohol is formed as was found in the products of the autoxidation of 3-carene. 2. The alcohol under investigation is identical to the product of the oxidation of 3-carene with SeO2, but is not a compound of the carene series. 3. In the autoxidation of 3-carene in presence of Pb(OCOCH3)2 there is formed not only eucarvone, but also a second ketone having a seven-membered ring, namely 3,6,6-trimethyl-2,4-cycloheptadien-1-one. © 1963 Consultants Bureau Enterprises Inc. | |
