| ru_RU |
dc.description.abstract | This paper discusses the role of the Turks in expanding the area of Islamic civilization; it uses methods from ethnology and historical sciences, and works with the conception of local civilizations and ethno-geographic regions. The author starts from an ethnological geography of the Earth, which places the Turks into the ethno-geographical zone of Eurasia. The author proposes to place the emergence of the Islamic civilization in the ethno-geographical zone of Afro-Asia (Afraziia). Shortly before the emergence of the Arab Caliphate, the Turkic peoples occupied the whole Eurasia's Great Steppe. The first phase of the expansion of the Muslim area began with the Islamization of the Turks in their historical fatherland, beyond the confines of the World of Islam. After the acceptance of Islam in the Golden Horde (in 1314), and through the 14th to 16th centuries, the Western part of the Great Steppe became a part of the Islamic region. The second phase is characterized by the movement of Muslim Turks into Muslim Afrasia, with the formation of Turkic-Muslim ehnoses and with the spread of Turkic-Muslim states into the ethno-geographical regions of India, Byzantium and Eurasia. The Turks' acceptance of Islam led to the spread of this religion over the huge spaces of Eurasia, to the spread of Islam among the autochthonous populations of Asia Minor, the Balkans, the Caucasus and Hindustan. | en_US |
